Arsenal have confirmed that Gabriel Jesus will undergo surgery on his left knee after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Jesus, 27, was forced off on a stretcher in Sunday’s FA Cup third-round defeat to Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.

“Gabriel Jesus has undergone thorough assessments, scans and tests by specialists. Which have confirmed he has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.” Arsenal said in a statement.

“Gabby will undergo surgery in the next few days and will begin her rehabilitation program soon.”

Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City for £45m in July 2022 has scored six goals in his last seven appearances.

He is the latest Arsenal player to be ruled out with an injury. Along with Bukayo Saka, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ethan Vaneri and Riccardo Calafiori.

The Gunners are second in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Liverpool. Having played a game more and host Spurs on Wednesday.

The Gunners are back in Champions League action later this month and will look to reverse the 2-0 defeat at Newcastle. When they travel to St James’ Park for the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on February 5.
